God Bless you and all Pits. Also, the loving, intelligent and beautiful Rottweiler is unjustly stereotyped. May all Pits and Rotts go to good homes so that they can prosper and show the public and the media that they can be well-adjusted family members. And to the people who abuse animals...you know where to go!

I agree, A dog is only trained to do what you want it to do.

Any dog can bite, I've had a cocker that bit and also a poodle. I did not train these dogs to bite. The conditions were so that the dogs felt threatened and bit. I have 2 dobies that could bite although they haven't. People need to respect a dog's personal space just like a human's space. Some breeders get the dollar sign in their head and will breed siblings and/or parent to offspring and get really screwed up genetics as would humans if this were to happen(I know you've seen Deliverence). Again the dogs aren't to blame. Choose a reputable breeder when picking a registerable/full blooded pet or better yet go to the shelter, rescue,ASPCA before the pet store to get your next member of the family. And for goodness sakes SPAY or NEUTER the pet so that it will have a long healthy life. Unaltered pets cross highways, fight, and mark everything when in season or pursuing the mate in season. This is my two coppers worth, thanks for reading my post.

I have a male pit that is a year and a half. He is the sweetest thing ever. I have not once worried that he will turn on me, my husband or my 7 month old. He is very gentle and loving and that's how most pit's are. My father in law has another dog (not sure what breed) but she is a white lap dog and I am more scared of her hurting me or my baby then I am of Duke (my pit)The media does need to know the truth. My pit is the best dog I have ever had and I can't wait to get another one.

Wonderful slideshow. As much bias as there is, it goes both ways. You only have to visit the Animal Control facility in Anytown, USA and see that Pit Bulls are the majority, not the minority housed there and on the "Bite Row". Whereas I see your point, responsible pet ownership will never prevail, no matter what the breed, until Puyppy Mills and irresponsible breeders are put out of business. Spay and Neuter your pets, folks.....that is the first step. Consider rescue and adoption before buying from a Pet Store or backyard breeder.......until these puppy sales are non-exsistent, irresponsible pet owners will continue and it doesn't/won't matter what the breed is........

I feel like everyone should know the truth about pit bulls they are loving and loyal....people only see what other PEOPLE have done to their dog...abuse, starvation...the list goes on. What can we do to stop this...everyone just realize that ANY animal is capable of biting and that a cocker spaniel has biten more people than a pit bull has...hmm there's something to think about maybe we should label them too. It's in an animals nature to be wild...if it comes out it's because we did something wrong. It can be preveted.
