A memorial tribute to the memory of Sheba, a beloved dog from Washington Area Humane Society, who I had the honor of fostering for the last week of her Earthly life.
Love you, miss you Shebes aka "Twinkle Toes"

Sheba was with our family for a short time this past year and it completely broke my heart when I had to return her to the shelter. I would always check back at the website to see if someone else had adopted her. She was so special to me and my family. I sit here crying because once again my heart is broken but I know my baby is running and playing pain free once again and I will see her at the rainbow bridge. I love YOU Sheba! Big smiles with that curled up lip and the hugs and kisses, that is what I miss most. I pray you will save some for me when we meet again!

Sheba was a joy to my family for 11 years. It broke my heart, my daughters heart and Sheba's heart when the decision was made to surrender her to a shelter. Over the year, we both have continually visited the WAHS website to check on Sheba. It is with much sadness to find out that she has passed on. My family is so grateful & happy to see that Sheba was happy in her last days. Just by the looking at the pictures we can tell she is smiling and truly happy. Thank you so much to the foster family for providing her with much love and happiness during her last days. We are forever grateful for that and for the pictures you have provided to this site. Again, thank you so much, you are truly a blessing.

Lauren,
All I can say is that Shebes spent her last last few days on this earth with one of the kindest people I have ever known.
She'll know the exact moment you get near the Rainbow Bridge, and will run with the many other animals that will sprint over to see you.

This is such a sad story. I remember seeing sheba during my volunteer visits, and I always thought she was such a kind hearted, loving animal. It's so sad that she never found an adoptive home. It's wonderful that Lauren shared some time with Sheba, if only briefly, to let her know she was loved. We'll miss you, Sheba.
